Meet the Yoho Tails Team

Lexy

Born & raised in a small town in Ontario, Lexy has been a lover of our furry companions from a young age. Having been brought up alongside many dogs of all shapes & sizes, she became involved in the exercise & training of her family’s dogs, and took a liking to it immediately. Between running and hiking, agility, rally, and therapy dog training - Lexy was exposed to many types of canine enrichment. After completing her Bachelor of Arts at McGill University and a couple years of travelling, Lexy ended up in Lake Louise “for just a season” and has been living and loving the Rockies lifestyle for over 5 years.

After moving just across the Alberta border to Field, BC with her partner, they adopted a dog of their own; Celly - a four year old Golden Retriever. Lexy became deeply committed to giving Celly the life he had always dreamed of full of hikes, river walks, good food and of course - training! Their little family grew when they welcomed a new puppy named Quinn in September 2020. A relative of Celly’s, Quinn is a bundle of energy and has embraced mountain living. Her favourite pastime is snorkelling for rocks in the Kicking Horse River! Lexy has been spending her spare time working on her training skills - from leash reactivity to agility training and everything in between. A graduate of the Northwest School of Animal Massage, she offers canine massage to pups in the Bow Valley. Lexy is certified in dog first aid and is a member of the CDWA (Canadian Dog Walker Association). She is looking forward to meeting the puppers of Lake Louise & their devoted parents!

Dawn

A life long animal lover but obsessive about dogs, Dawn started her training journey after raising a family and working in a few different industries before following her heart to work full time with dogs. After almost 14 years at a training facility in Southern Ontario, Dawn, her husband and their pups moved to Field, BC to be closer to family - namely their two adult kids and their significant others and of course - their grandpups!

Dawn is a certified trainer (CPDT-KA), a Professional Member of the Canadian Association of Pet Dog Trainers, a Supporting Member of the IAABC (International Association of Animal Behaviour Consultants) and is dog first aid certified. She has taught all levels of obedience (including puppy foundations), rally obedience and agility and was a Director at an Ontario not-for-profit that trained service and therapy dogs. Dawn is committed to expanding her training knowledge and has taken courses in leash reactivity, defensive handling skills, separation anxiety as well as seminars on motivation and communication systems. She strongly supports the use of positive reinforcement training methods and strives to enhance the dog/human bond. Dawn has competed with her own dogs in rally obedience and agility and is looking forward to working with people and dogs of Lake Louise.

‘I think dogs are the most amazing creatures; they give unconditional love. For me, they are the role model for being alive’
